Blood donation at SEUSL

A blood donation camp organized by the Students Union of the Faculty of Management and Commerce, with the assistance of the Department of Student Support Services of the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka was held at their Recreation Centre.

The Camp was held with the concept "If you give money you give food and if you give blood you give life" was attended by a large number of students, mostly women.The camp was well regulated by means of a team of Medical Personnel headed by Dr. HPR. Prasanna, MOIC of the Blood Bank at the Akkaraipattu Base Hospital with the support of Dr Ruwina Galappaththi and the other staff of Akkaraipattu Base Hospital.Further Dr. Pransanna said nearly 77 pints of blood were collected from the undergraduates and the important feature of the programme was nearly 60 % of the female students came forward enthusiastically to donate blood. It was considered a great boon to the blood bank at the Akkaraipattu Base Hospital which is at times faced with a shortage of blood in emergency situations.
