The Thai Government stated that it is expecting to assist in the development of Sri Lanka's agriculture sector, through many new programmes.

This was revealed to President Maithripala Sirisena, by Thai Ambassador to Sri Lanka Chulamanee Chartsuwan, when she met with him at his Official Residence on 21 January.

The Thai Ambassador further stated that this cooperation will be implemented with the introduction of programmes on using modern technology for the agricultural sector, including the introduction of post-harvest technology and getting water through artificial rainfall.

The Ambassador also said that this assistance will be provided to Sri Lanka under the guidance of the King of Thailand, Maha Vajiralongkorn, symbolizing the friendly relationship established with the Government of Thailand by President Sirisena.

In recognition of this friendliness, the present King of Thailand has made arrangements to expand the projects started by the late King of Thailand Bhumibol Adulyadejup to Sri Lanka.
