Alleged manhandling of principal:Premajayantha denounces Uva CM’s actions

Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) stalwart Minister Susil Premajayantha, at a media briefing held yesterday (22), strongly disapproved of the Uva Province Chief Minister's alleged actions,.

He also said, the President's order for the Chief Minister's resignation from......the post of Provincial Education Minister was needed in order to preserve the independence of the ongoing investigations, and urged a speedy probe.

When asked about the SLFP's disciplinary actions against the Chief Minister, Premajayantha said that such action needed be halted due to the ongoing investigations, because if the SLFP were to commence an internal Party investigation and it would in turn affect the current election campaign of the Party.

Premajayantha further said, "The ward should decide whether their public representatives to Local Authorities are accountable and have fulfilled the relevant qualifications for candidacy."

He asserted that parties should be responsible for representatives who lack qualifications, adding that following the upcoming Local Government Elections, the SLFP will be doing their best to ensure the appointment of suitable representatives to the relevant posts.
