Apeksha Hospital short of 8 medicines Moves underway to replenish stocks

Due to the unavailability of eight brands of medicines, patients at the Apeksha Hospital, Maharagama have been inconvenienced for the past few days, sources said.

According to hospital sources, medicinal stocks of the Temozolomide injection, Decarbazine injection, Chlorambucil tablets, Bleomycin injection, Cytarabine injection, Mercaptopurine tablets, Procarbazime capsules and folinic acid tablets at the Hospital had been out of stock.

Health Services Director Dr. Anil Jasinghe said that already steps were being taken to address the situation having already decided to supply new stocks as an emergency through the State Pharmaceuticals Corporation while the distribution unit of the Ministry of Health was also supporting the move.
